Amy Winehouse was born on September 14, 1983 in Chase Farm Hospital, South-gate, London, United Kingdom. Her Father Mitchell Winehouse was a window panel installer, then a taxi driver and her mother Janis Winehouse was a pharmacist.
Amy also has an older brother by the name of Alex. Her Uncles' were professional jazz musicians and her grandma was a singer, which heavily influenced Amy into jazz.
Amy attended Susi Earnshaw Theater School for 4 years and Sylvia Young Theater School which furthered her vocal education and tap dancing; and also founded a short-lived rap group called 'Sweet 'n' Sour'. She bought her own guitar when she was 14 and began writing music a year later.
